Inn on Biltmore Wedding

Melissa and Chad were married at the Inn on Biltmore Estate. Melissa knew that she wanted some great images all over the estate since it is such a beautiful location, so she planned an early ceremony and reception, and then afterward the immediate family and bridal party went around the estate for some fun pictures. It was perfectly planned. When we finished it was just as the sun was setting and the moon was shining in the sky. We stopped for one last image by the lagoon with the house in the background, the moon shimmering on the lagoon, and Chad and Melissa Holding each other. It was amazing! This day couldn't have been any better. Jennifer from Verge Events did a fantastic job coordinating the day. I loved Melissa's use of peacock feathers! It was so beautiful! Stacy from the Bloom Room did a wonderful job as always with the flowers. Congratulations to Chad and Melissa. I wish you all the love in the world!

The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa Wedding

Merritt and Brooks were married at the gazebo across from The 1927 Lake Lure Inn and Spa and then returning to the Inn for the reception. It was a perfect day that even mother nature even participated in with singing birds during the ceremony! (Ok maybe it was not singing, but quacking instead, but I though it sounded better for the story as singing.)

Instead of having the ceremony under the gazebo, Merritt couldn't resist the beautiful view the other way and turned the guests to face the mountains.

There are a few people that I have to mention because they were wonderful to work with. Mandy and Linda from An English Flower Cottage took care of all the flowers which were beautiful. The cake was made by Mara Nichols and was delicious! (Yes, I got a taste and it was oh so good!) The Swing Street Band kept the dance floor moving all night! Congratulations to Merritt and Brooks!

Highland Lake Inn

Meet Kris and Lou: I just cannot express to you how much fun I had with them for their engagement session! Oh my gosh! They played at teh swings, cuddled in the hammock, rolled in the grass, and even put their feet in the water. That was daring to say the least because the water was freezing! But they made it look GOOD! I am very excited for their upcoming wedding. Maura from Honey Darling Events is coordinating the weekend and I know we are going to have a blast! Saturday is starting with a few rounds of golf, rehearsal, an awesome dinner, followed by a most beautiful wedding on Sunday.

The Proposal

I had the most wonderful opportunity to capture a moment that brought big tears (the good kind) streaming like faucets that I almost couldn't cut off. Ragan called me to see if I could photograph his proposal to Lauren, but there was a catch. She could not know what was going on until he actually got down on his knee to ask her to be his wife. He had told her they were coming to Asheville for a friend's wedding. They came all the way from Mississippi for this "wedding". He even had his friend Jessie send them an invitation with fake names so she thought it was real. The day of, they got dressed up for the wedding and headed to The Cove where it was to take place. To keep her from being suspicious of why they were the only people there, I met them at the door and asked if they were there for Emily and Mat's wedding. She said yes, and I said well you are the first to arrive. There was a little bit of small talk and then I asked them if I could use them for a minute to test the light at the front of the chapel. Lauren thinking this was really weird (because it was) was ok with it and they proceeded to walk up there. Little did she know what was waiting. Ragan had arranged for a friend to have a bible placed at the alter with an empty ring box. He had the bible engraved with Lauren's married name. This was her expression when he got down on one knee and she realized what was actually happening.
...ok I am crying now just trying to tell the story.



But as you can see, she said yes. After all the tears, smiles, hugs, mouth dropping wide open, more hugs, more tears, finally he got a yes! which was followed by more of the same. It was so awesome!

Cliffs at Glassy Wedding

Katie and John totally rocked! I loved their wedding and all the wonderful details. The ceremony was held at The Cliffs at Glassy chapel which is absolutely gorgeous. Tamara Heston of Belle Soiree coordinated the ceremony which went so smooth with lots of smiles. Pam from The Flower Market did all the flowers and decor at the reception. This was held at the Westin Poinsett in Greenville, SC. And of course to top it all off, Paul and Holly from Four Seasons Films captured the entire event. They are wonderful! One other person I cannot go without mentioning is the calligrapher that is so talented. Dana Cochran of A Fine Line Studio did an amazing job! Thank you to all involved for a most beautiful wedding! So, I have been very slack about blogging lately. I have been shooting some extremely amazing weddings and will share them very soon. I have always been focused on customer service and providing each couple with the best images in a timely manner and that has left me deciding which is more important...blogging or image processing. The obvious choice has left my blog readers in the dark for a while. I apologize. I promise you will love what is coming. Here is one image since I don't want to post without at least one little glimpse...

Kenmure Country Club

Sloan and Steve had a perfect wedding at Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock, NC. With fantastic floras from Sweetbrier, delicious food from Kenmure, a gorgeous dress from J Majors in Charlotte, NC, a totally cool band The Mixx that kept the dance floor going all night, a beautiful bride and a handsome groom, lots of friends and family all mixed together, you couldn't have had a more perfect wedding! Calandra and Quentin

Congratulations to Calandra and Quentin! When I received this email from Calandra, I was so excited to read what she had to say about her images and I had to share: "The decision to have you as the photographer for our wedding day was the best decision I could have ever made. We are so thrilled with the pictures! You have a wonderful personality and were very easy to work with. Someone with your talent, creativity, and welcoming personality is really hard to find. You are the total package! You have left us with wonderful memories of our special day that we will treasure for years to come. My husband summed it up when he said "I don't know how much you paid her, but she was worth every penny." This was his comment after the wedding before he ever saw any pictures.

Washington DC Engagement Session

Tonya and Johnny are such an awesome couple! They flew us up to Washington DC for their engagement session and Tonya's bridal portrait. We had such a great time. The first day was spent shooting the bridal portraits, which I cannot post just yet. The wedding is just around the corner though. The 2nd day we met up at the Air and Space Museum where we got some really rockin images! Not only did they get in one of the planes, but we had awesome images from the "hot" stairwell. Then we headed off to one of Johnny's favorite restaurants. They brew their own beer, so we had to get a few shots in the brewery. How cool was that! Of course we wanted to go to the Washington monument for a stroll through the park. I couldn't fly all the way there and not do something touristy with the photos. We had to show where it was. Then we went to Georgetown that evening. The city lights made for some awesome backgrounds. Thank you Tonya and Johnny! I am so looking forward to the wedding!

The 9

The day has come to announce something very special! Several of my colleagues and I have joined together to create The 9. Our styles vary, we all come from different photography backgrounds, we each offer something different, and we all agree that joining together we create the "power of nine". We are able to learn from each other, inspire one another, and support the community around us. Together we can do so much more than individually.
